Hutchinson is ACC Player of the Week
Wayne, Pa. Native Becomes 2-Time Recipient in 2007
 |
(Oct. 29, 2007) GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest women’s soccer player Jill Hutchinson was named ACC Co-Player of the Week for her performance in WFU’s 3-2 upset over No. 10 Florida State last Thursday.
Hutchinson, who hails from Wayne, Pa., played a key role in No. 22 Wake Forest’s 3-2 upset triumph over 10th-ranked Florida State last Thursday as she tallied four points on two goals. The sophomore forward scored the equalizer at the 60:58 mark and after a 45-minute delay due to inclement weather, she netted the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Teammate Ashley Burney sent a cross to Hutchinson, whose first shot was blocked, but she was able to grab the rebound and send the ball to the back in the net.
The honor is Hutchinson’s second for the season. In late September she took the award for her performance against Brown and West Virginia. Hutchinson shares this week’s honors with Natalie Crutchfield of Boston College. In her first start of the season the Acton, Mass. native tallied the lone goal in BC’s 1-0 win over No. 3 Virginia on Sunday.

The George Mason women’s soccer team had a 1-0-1 week, defeating
Virginia
Commonwealth , in second-place in the conference, and earning a draw with James Madison, sixth-place in the conference. The Patriots couldn’t have picked up those four points without freshman forward Kelly Keelan and as a result, she was honored by the Colonial Athletic Association receiving the Brine CAA Women’s Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week award.
Keelan had the game-winning goal in Mason’s 2-1 overtime win over VCU on Friday night, her second goal on the year. Keelan has five points this season, second on Mason amongst first-year players.
