DELCO PLAYOFF INFORMATION
We will not change the format or times. Playoffs will start immediately after the regular schedule is complete, normally on the next Saturday - no games will be scheduled for the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
If teams that make the playoffs want to schedule their games prior to the DELCO posted schedule (one week between semifinals and finals); please coordinate with Dick Burke. Teams will not be forced to play earlier.
- Tie breakers for playoff spots will be decided by a playoff game to get into the playoffs.
- Teams in the playoffs that are tied in points will have seeding determined by: (1) results of their head to head competition, (2) better record of teams in the playoff and then by (3) flip of the coin.
- Semifinals will be scheduled with the higher seeded team at home or as designated by the commissioner.
Playoff Game Formats/Rules
Regular season rules apply except as follows:
1. No club passes are allowed - only rostered players may play in the playoffs.
2. Teams must bring copies of their stamped rosters to the games and exchange with the other side and referee.
3. Semifinal games tied at end of regulation play two full ten minute overtimes switching goals at the end of the first period of overtime. NO SUDDEN DEATH/GOLDEN GOAL.
4. Semifinal games tied at the end of the two overtime periods will be decided by penalty kicks. Five per team from players on the field and if still tied, then sudden death penalty kicks from players on the field that did not participate in the initial five. If still tied after all eligible players have taken their penalty kick, then continue using the five initially excluded from the sudden death penalty kicks.
5. Final games tied at the end of regulation play two full ten minute overtimes switching goals at the end of the first period of overtime. NO SUDDEN DEATH/GOLDEN GOAL.
6. Final games tied at the end of the two overtime periods will play two five minute overtime periods with the regulation number of players on the field. NO SUDDEN DEATH/GOLDEN GOAL. During these overtime periods - ALL PLAYERS ARE FIELD PLAYERS - NO player (goalkeeper) may use their hands. The exception to the "No Hands Rule" is in the event of a violation resulting in a penalty shot, a player may be designated as the goalkeeper and may use his hands during the penalty shot only If there is no score on the penalty shot, play will continue without the use of hands.
7. Final games tied at the end of the two five minute "No Hands" overtime period will result in co-champions.
8. Referees will be paid by DELCO for the FINALS only - each team is to pay for semifinal games as per the regular season.
