Congrats to the Boys from Team 4 (Red Caliente - Coaches:Sunil Godbole/Prasad Yavalkar ) for winning the U14 Boys Spring 2008 Championship game.
The Red Caliente won the U14 Boys Spring Championship game very comfortably in extremely hot and humid conditions on Sunday, June 8, 2008. The heat index was around 100 Fahrenheit during the semifinals and the final game. The boys played their heart out under these testing conditions in securing a 5-0 win. The Red Caliente went undefeated through out the regular season with 7 wins and 1 Tie game. So this was quite an impressive season for the team which had an incredible bunch of players.
As coach, I was blessed with players who were not only skilled but very coachable. That is a rare combination these days. There were several standout players on the team both on the offensive and the defensive side of the field. But the difference in the end was the team play which included fantastic passing by the mid-fielders and forwards, tenacious defense by the full backs, and superb goal keeping.
