In-House League Scholarship Started in Katie Urban's Memory

(12/20/2010) WCUSC was recently given the honor to receive donations in memory of Katie Urban, the local 6th grader who recently passed away and who was a member of our in-house leagues for many years.  Donations will be used to provide scholarships for in-house players -- kids like Katie who love the game and who play in our in-house leagues. For reflections on the life of Katie Urban, and for more information on contributing to the Katie Urban Scholarship Fund, please click here:

WCUSC Recreation League Game-Day Procedures

1. Both teams' players and coaches are to set up on the same sideline, each taking 1/2 of the field and separated by the half line. All parents & fans must sit on the opposite side of the field, directly across from their team players. No one is allowed behind the goal line. The first team listed on the schedule has the choice of of which half of the field to set up.

2. All players, fans, and parents must behave respectfully. The head coach is responsible for keeping parents and supporters under control, and the referee has the right to eject a coach who is unable to do so.

3. If there is no referee present at the start of the game, the game is to still start on time. Both teams’ coaches should agree on an individual to officiate the game. One way to handle this situation is to have a supporter from each team officiate a half.

4. If the referee elects to use parents to assist with officiating the game along the sideline, the role of the parent is only to determine if the ball is out of play. The parent "linesperson" should not indicate which team regains possession, only that the ball is out of play. Also, the parent “linesperson” should not determine off-sides or assist the referee with calling fouls.

5. Players going into a game on a substitution should be ready to enter the game at the half line.

6. (For U-9 through Senior Teams) When reporting your game score to the age commissioner, please include a note on the referee who officiated the game. Information on the referee should include whether the referee was present, how well he/she communicated to the teams, whether his/her calls were consistent, & whether his/her referee ability was equal to the level of team play. Both coaches are to submit the weekly game report.
