U10G Team Emails
Hi Damon and Bob.
I was one of the coaches for the U-10 Girls Rec Plus team. Since our participation in the Rec Plus tournament last Saturday, the "thank you" e-mails have been flowing in. It seems that our participation in the tournament was an unqualified success. I have forwarded the message below from Buffe Savant. I will not forward all the messages that I have received, but I will try to briefly summarize why I think our participation in the tournament was so important.
1. The girls got to participate in a travel-style tournament. That was the first time that the girls got to play other soccer clubs as representatives of West Chester United. Don’t get me wrong, the end-of-season Rec tournament is awesome. But, this tournament had a different feel to it. This may be the only time that some of those girls ever get to represent WCUSC in a tournament. I suspect they will remember that experience for a long time.
2. Players, coaches and parents that were opponents in the end-of-season Rec tournament, were all of a sudden teammates representing WCUSC. I am very pleased to report that we really came together quickly as a team. Not just the players, but the coaches and parents also. And, in the short time that we were a team, I think we became friends. I suspect that goodwill will carry over to the spring season.
Damon and Bob, thank you for all your efforts making our Rec Plus participation a reality. It was worth it. I think I can speak for all the players and parents when I say, if you find another Rec Plus tournament for us, we’re ready.

Funny you mentioned the smiling...Olivia woke up this morning and kept saying what a great day she had yesterday and how nice all of the girls were...she really enjoyed playing with them, and even though it was very cold we could not have had a better Saturday for soccer...The parents were all very nice and Olivia had a very good experience....so thank you again for the time you both put in and the accelerated clinic you had to put the girls through so quickly for tournament play...I really thought it classy of you as well for getting the pizza party together between games and how you conducted the trophy presentation ( letting the gold team have their moment for pictures...very cool of you). Scott and Kevin you were very good representatives for West Chester United...as were the girls...and parents.
We are looking forward to seeing the photos ( as are our family members that were too chicken to brave the cold...)
Again, thank you for being such well organized and productive coaches...see you in the spring...

I agree wholeheartedly.......Missy had one of the best experiences in her short life.....not only with the girls but with the coaches too......she has e-mailed and called everyone she thought would listen to her talk about her team’s win...she is still walking on air.
Thanx again to the coaches, Kevin and Scott....for giving up your time to coach our girls...it obviously paid off.
Looking forward to spring ball....hopefully some of the girls will play together again.

Although my husband & I had to miss this exciting tournament, Sarah has not stop talking about it. She had a wonderful time & is showing everyone who walks in the door her trophy!
Thanks to the coaches for their time & creating a positive experience for the girls.

I would also like to say thanks to the coaches, the team and parents for making this a very memorable experience for us. This is Heather’s first trophy and I’m sure it will always leave an impression!
I shot many photos throughout the day and will post them on my web site this week. I will let Kevin know when they are posted so he can pass along the information. (They will be password protected.)
Thanks, Brian Piper

Wow! What a great day! The girls really came together and played unselfishly as a team - it was so fun to watch! Thank you Kevin and Scott for all you did to get the girls ready for the tournament - I’m sure with all you have on your plates it wasn’t easy - then add the unpredictable weather...anyway, it couldn’t have worked out any better. Melana is thrilled with her trophy - but mostly she talks about the girls and what a great group they were and how much fun it was to play with them. It was a wonderful experience all the way around! We look forward to seeing you all in the spring!
