U-14 BOYS RECPLUS

Fall 2009 Champs MUSC Tournament
WCUSC U-14 Boys followed by their SISL R SLAM title win last weekend by claiming the Roger ERB Select Tournament. Due to the rains last week the field for the championship game was not fit for playing hence on the day of the tournament the tournament format changed with the teams finishing 1st and 2nd in the league stage would be the winners and runners up. This meant each win had be a shut out with maximum goals to gain goal differential advantage.
The boys started off the campaign against Valley AA one of the better teams and after a hard fought game we won by the sole goal of the game scored by Jesse Martinez ( I do not have words how to describe this amazing goal)
Our second game was against Hulmeville, the team we had beaten in the SISL’R final last weekend, and they were out for revenge. This was the game to watch, two evenly matched teams, matching blow for blow. Every attack was met by a counterattack. Our defense held strong and Jesse Martinez managed to score of a rebound to give WCUSC another win. After the game the Hulmeville boys said they were “honored” to have played worthy opponents twice in two weeks and the coach has invited WCUSC to their tournament in December. With this game we have made new friends and started a rivalry which I hope brings the best in the two teams over the years.
The final game was against Souderton another team out for revenge. We needed a shutout with a six goal difference if we were to win the championship. A ragged first half left the score at 0 -0. During the break the boys realized what they would miss out and a pumped up Jesse Martinez led the way with a first minute goal in the second half (his 6th goal in 7 games) and Aiden Delpino pumped in two more (his 4th in 6 games) and our defense Liam Fitzgerald rubbed in the salt by taking the ball from our “D” to theirs and scoring a goal. Final score 4-0.
Luckily for us the only other team, Council Rock, who were tied with us lost their final game and we finished with three shutouts and 12 points to win the tournament.
Once against great team work. GO WEST CHESTER!! Coach Prasad

Fall 2009 SISL’R Champions Tournament
Defending Championship WCUSC U-14 Boys retained the SISL’R SLAM title by defeating Hulmeville in the final via penalty shootout.
The champions started the defense of their title with a 3 – 1 win over MUSC. The fields were wet and muddy and having practiced as team only once before the boys took little time to settle and went up 2 -0 (Jesse Martinez scoring both the goals) in the first half before MUSC pulled one back from a free kick. Brendan Pusey scored in the second half to ensure the win.
The second game was against the hosts Souderton. Aiden Delpino’s first half goal put us in the lead but the hosts pulled back a minute later. In the second half Jon Weinstein, Aiden Delpino (PK) and Jesse Martinez scored. The score should have read 5 -1 but the goal by Michael Mardoian was disallowed.
The final game of the league was against LAA and David Wong’s goal meant we would be playing for the Championship half a hour later.
In the Finals the boys seemed a little tired and despite numerous scoring opportunities the score at the end of regular time read 0 -0. Over time did not produce any result and it went into a penalty shootout. Aiden Delpino drew the first blood and Hulmeville tied the score with their first kick. Liam Fitzgerald, Brendan Pusey and Michael MardoianJustin Davis the star of the shootout saved the second and third kicks and the boys were home with a 4-1 win. were on target.
Alan Mulner, Nick Steinley, Abhir Yavalkar and Alex George were the defenders who made sure there was little opportunities for the opposition to score.
Larkin Clement, Yanni Konsoulas, Bobby Baker, Brent Jacobs, Mihir Yavalkar (in the mid field) and Matt Better (striker) provided excellent support to the team.
The only disappointment for the team was Bobby’s injury in the third game which meant he had to be taken home. The team dedicated the final to Bobby.

West Chester RecPlus Festival 2009 Champions
WCUSC U14 Boys RecPlus Grey team won the Summer 2009 RecPlus festival at West Chester United Soccer Club. The Grey team was coached by Sunil Godbole and Prasad Yavalkar. The team won their first game against GCVSC club 5-1. The second game was a hard fought game against another WCUSC team which we won 1-0. Both the WCUSC teams displayed good ball skills and great soccer spirit throughout this game. We won the third game 5-0. We ended up with 11 points to secure top place in the tournament. Congrats to all the players who participated. The talent level on the team was unbelievable and the tournament win was well deserved.

U-14 Boys Fall 2008 - SISL Tournament Champions

We won the SISL’R Tournament U14 Boys. 1st game lost 2-0, then didn’t let up a goal next 3 games Winning 4-0, 5-0, and 2-0 Championship game.  Robert Erb Tournament I believe we came in 4th.  We only allowed 1 goal in three games though.  Tied the last game 0-0.  If we would have won it we would have played for the Championship. Coach Jeff

Fall 2007 U-14 Boys - Roger Erb 2007 Tournament 4th place!
U14 Boys finished fourth in tournament (that’s the short version)...

It was actually a heartbreaker for the team in a number of ways. We ended the first game w/ a 0-0 tie after a second half goal was called back for offsides. That gave us 1 point for a tie game instead of 4 points for a win & shutout. Those extra 3 points would have placed us into the championship match, as we won our second game 2-0 (4 points), but lost our third game 2-3 (0 points) for an overall point total of 5 instead of 8. I believe the 2 teams that advanced to the championship game had earned 8 and 10 points.
