WCUSC Hosted USSF Grade 9 Referee Course

Location: WCUSC Thornbury Soccer Park
Fee: $35.00
Date: Saturday, March 15, 2008 (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)

The USSF Grade 9 referee course is 8 hours in length. Students must have reached their 14th birthday prior to the start of the course. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a USSF Grade 9 Referee License which will allow them to officiate U-14 & younger recreation games and be an assistant referee for U-14 & younger travel league games. (February 17, 2008)  The Grade 9 Referee course is now full.  To be placed on the course waiting list or our email list for future course announcements, please send an email to Carrie Martin.  We are starting to plan for another Grade 9 Referee course to be held later this year.

WCUSC Hosted USSF Grade 8 Referee Course

Location: West Chester East High School *
Fee: $90.00 ** ($70.00 EPSARC registration fee plus a $20.00 facility use fee)
Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 5th & Thursday, Feb. 7th (6:30-9:30 PM)
            Saturday, Feb. 9th (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM & 1:00-4:00 PM)
            Monday, Feb. 11th & Wednesday, Feb. 13th (6:30-9:30 PM)

* Feb. 7 class to be held at Thornbury Soccer Park Clubhouse due an EHS conflict.
** EPSARC increased the course fee by $10.00 starting February 1, 2008 plus the facility rental cost is higher then originally expected. (Update: 01/21/08)

The USSF Grade 8 referee course is 18 hours in length. Students must have reached their 14th birthday prior to the start of the course. Upon completion of the course, students take a 100 question multiple-choice exam covering the material presented. Obtaining a grade of 75 or better qualifies the student to become a USSF Grade 8 referee. Failing students may take the exam one additional time, at a time and place mutually convenient to the student and instructor. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a USSF Grade 8 Referee License. For more information on the course, contact Damon Nolan.

Note: A Grade 8 referee license permits a referee to cover any youth game (travel or recreation) as a center referee or assistant, at the discretion of a referee assignor.  The Grade 8 Referee licenses is high level then the Grade 9 referee licenses.
