Grade 8 Referee Recertification

Grade 8 Referee Recertification (yearly process)

The recertification process is as follows:

1. If you take the Grade 8 referee course prior to June 1 of a calendar year you require 5 hrs of continuing education. (WCUSC usually offers the course between Feb-April each year, as it is easier for the young people with less conflicts)

This can consist of attending 5 Delco referee chapter meetings – Reference the website at:
http://www.eteamz.active.com/dsra/ (Friday nights at WC Univ), or attending the clinic

(6 hr clinic which run in Jan, Feb, March & Nov, Dec)

New referees are exempt from the 5hrs until the following calendar year.

*** Note this is the requirement and waivers have been granted, but we would strongly recommend you attend a few of the DSRA - Delco Soccer Referee Association meetings on Friday nights & also take the referee exam at the Oct meeting. ***

2. All grade 8 referees also need to retake the grade 8 exam at one of the meetings usually Oct of each year.

If you do not meet this requirement you unfortunately are not qualified to receive the next year grade 8 referee badge.

3. Yearly registration process:

All grade 8 referees need to provide a game log which includes a minimum of 10 games, a copy of the exam results with their registration paperwork & USSF payment at the DSRA registration meeting in Nov. You will then receive your next year grade 8 referee badge.

4. To requalify you need to perform the following:

Register for another grade 8 course (unfortunately it cost $60) and you can inform the instructor on night 1 that you are retaking the course as your badge has expired due to not meeting the minimum requalification requirements. After successful completion of the grade 8 exam you then requalify for the next year and will receive you new badge. You also will find a way to ensure you get the 5hrs of training and the annual retest in the fall.

We hope this clarifies the confusion of the recertification process, and it is unfortunate how the process works as many referees do not meet the minimum requirements as it is not always easy to find time to requalify.

If you have any further questions, please contact the Delco referee chapter.

Good luck in your games!
