Team Closes Out U15 Campaign
Final Cup Match
The Rapids played their third and final state cup match at Delacy against reigning champion FC Delco Roadkill.    The team played a physical game against a much larger opponent and very nearly entered the half at a draw.     Unfortunately, Roadkill managed  a tally seconds before half, and held the momentum into the second 40 minutes, blanking the Rapids 3-0.    Despite the loss, the Rapids take pride in going deeper than ever into the state cup format and look forward to continued success in next years cups.
Rapids Move to Elite Eight
Defeat Lighthouse 3-1

The Rapids traveled to the Great Northeast to take on Lighthouse Soccer Club in the second round of the EYPSA State Cup.   The team started slowly on the firm surface but soon found their rhythm, scoring a long distance goal to once again take an early lead.    The confidence from the first goal allowed the team to settle in and tally a second time just before the first half came to a close.     A mishandled ball by the back-up keeper for Lighthouse allowed the Rapids to extend their lead to three and begin to use the clock to their advantage.    Lighthouse did manage to bring the game to 3-1 and played aggressively right until the final whistle, but the score got no closer as the Rapids once again advanced.     Next week will find the Rapids playing the winner of Deep Run vs. FC Delco Roadkill in the "great eight."     Another round of congratulations to the coaches and another reminder to our enthusiatic parents to not make comments to the refs.   Great job boys !

Rapids Rout Redlands
Advance to Play Lighthouse in Next Cup Match

A winter of practice and a solid preparation paid dividends as the Rapids blanked the Redlands Raptors in the first round of the EPYSA State Cup.      The Rapids took advantage of a home turf game at Delacy and tallied just before half to edge ahead.    As the second half opened, the team continued to pour it on scoring four additional goals to make the final 5-0.    Many Rapids contributed to the scoring and solid defense frustrated a talented offensive Redlands squad.      With the victory, the team advances to the next round, where they will play the winner of Lighthouse (Philadelphia) and BSA Rage.     Congratulations to the coaches on the big win !

Rapids Compete in Bermuda - Beat Rhode Island ODP Squad - Twice
The Rapids left the winter weather behind to play in the 2008 Clyde Best Tournament on the island of Bermuda.    Their opponents included two of the Bermuda U-15 National Teams as well as an ODP squad from Rhode Island.     The matches gave the Rapids a great chance to prepare for State Cups and a fabulous travel experience.   Despite the small size of the island, Bermuda has a great "football" heritage and regularly competes at all age group levels with some of the best teams in the US.    The Rapids showed well in the tournament,  beating an ODP squad from Rhode Island twice over the course of the weekend.    The team also proved very competitive against the national teams from the Island and a great time was had by both the boys and the parents.   Special thanks to the team manager, the coaches and the many volunteer parents that helped make the event an all around success!
