White Clay
Hurricanes Tie White Clay

It was a dark and stormy day.

The West Chester Hurricanes shut out White Clay but were themselves scoreless in a 0-0 tie on a rainy Sunday, September 24.

Despite the constant downpour, the U-14 players had relatively good ball control throughout the game, which resulted in 18 shots on goal.

The Hurricanes defense, led by goalie David Natalie, who had 10 saves, moved the ball decisively out of the backfield. Tyler Marraffa’s 30- and 40-yard kicks and Will Mau’s accurate headers fed the Hurricane offense well.

On the front line, aggressive play from all Hurricane players, including Kyle Leidheiser and Ryan Fogel, kept the team strong but just couldn’t get the ball by the alert White Clay goalie.

Hurricane midfielders shined in this game. Jerry Baldino and Ryan Kirkman both could be counted on for steals, while Colin Neilon, Jimmy Scorzetti, and newcomer Matt Pope showed some great footwork. All-round teamwork suggests that this team should begin to come into its own in the next few games.
