GAME SUMMARIES FOR THE SEASON

11/18/07 PREDATORS WIN 12TH GAME AND THE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!! WCU 3-0 OVER CASA.  In a game played in a light rain, our boys took control of the game early and scored about half way into the first half to take a 1-0 lead.  Our first goal was scored on a breakaway and dynamite move around the goalie for an easy poke into the net.  The score was 1-0 at the half.  Very quickly in the second half we played the ball into the right corner and made a brilliant cross in front of the goalie that was quickly settled and blasted into the net for a 2-0 lead.   Our final goal was scored on a very "heads-up" play when the ball was played into the box and we charged in to head the ball into the net before the goalie could make a play.  Our defense and goalie were once again incredible in posting our 6th shut-out in a row and 11th shut out of the season.   

11/17/07 PREDATORS BEAT KIRKWOOD 2-0 - ADVANCE TO CHAMPIONSHIP GAME! WCU 2-0 OVER KIRKWOOD.  With home field advantage, the Predators came out and played a complete game dominating play from start to finish.  Early in the first half on a deep penetration into the box, Kirkwood got flagged for a handball that resulted a in penalty kick which we converted to take a 1-0 lead.  We carried that lead into halftime.  We came out aggressive in the 2nd half and scored on a great move up top going around the goalie and putting the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.  For the 5th game in a row our defense and goalie where able to keep our opponent from scoring!  

11/11/07 PREDATORS WIN 10TH GAME TO CLOSE THE REGULAR SEASON! WCU 1-0 OVER MARPLE.  In a very physical game against a strong Marple team, our boys played very hard and secured a 1-0 victory to close our regular season with 10 wins and give us great momentum heading into the playoffs.  We won this game in our typicial style - ball control offense and unyielding defense.   The game was tied in the 2nd half before we took a shot on a goal, "re-directed" it just before their goalie was about to make the save and put the ball in the corner of the goal for a 1-0 lead.   Marple made a frantic "push" in the end to try to tie it up but our midfield, defense and goalie proved once again to be too strong posting our 4th shutout in a row and 9th of the season!

11/10/07 PREDATORS WIN 1 - 0 - EARN TOP SEED FOR PLAYOFFS! WCU 1-0 OVER HULMEVILLE SC.  On a field called "the pit" our boys played a strong game against a very defense oriented team.   We controlled the ball for most of the 1st half, however found ourselves tied at halftime.   We came out aggressive in the 2nd half creating several great scoring opportunities and converting on one about midway through the half to take the lead.  The score came off a great corner kick and header by our midfield tandem.  For the third game in a row our defense and goalies where able to keep our opponent from scoring!  

11/03/07 PREDATORS WIN 2 - 0 - CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT! WCU 2-0 OVER PA CLASSICS PREMIER ’93.  Our boys came out strong in the first half and scored a couple of quick goals - both seemed to come from great crossing passes from the side that we positioned in front of the net that we then "finished" off the goal in the middle.   Our defense and middlefield dominated the game giving up very few scoring opportunities to our opponent and we posted our 7th shut-out of the season!

10/21/07 HOME TEAM WINS 7 - 0! WCU 7-0 OVER COUNSEL ROCK.  A true team effort on Sunday as our boys scored early and often in a dominating win over Council Rock.   Goals were scored by many different players as our team did a great job of passing and finishing on our shots on goal.  Again, we controlled the mid-field all day and our defense and goalie posted our sixth shut-out of the season.  Great job boys!

10/20/07 IT’S "OFFICIAL" - PREDATORS TIE 2 - 2! WCU 2-2 TIE WITH KIRKWOOD.  Playing on the turf at Kirkwood truly showcased our boys skills as we dominated this game from start to finish with precision passing, strong finishes on our goals, great play by our middies and defense and great saves by our goalie.  We started off strong driving down the right sideline and sent a beautiful ball across the goal that was "rocketed" into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.   Kirkwood was given a gift on the first penalty call "in the box" we have seen all season to tie the game at 1-1 going into the half.   We again started the second half strong coming out and quickly blasting another shot on goal to take a 2-1 lead.  Once again the officials made a call that gave Kirkwood a direct shot on goal from the 18 which resulted in a goal to tie the score.   Overall, a great game by our boys!

10/14/07 PREDATORS WIN 1 - 0 OVER A STRONG BALTIMORE TEAM! WCU 1-0 OVER BALTIMORE SC.  We all traveled to the beautiful Maryland countryside for a big game against a very strong Baltimore team.   This was a good test for our team and we played extremely well.    Our middies did an excellent job of controlling the play in the middle and our offense created significant scoring opportunities.   We scored a goal shortly before the end of the first half and had another score that was “headed” out of the net and not counted as a score.  Once again our defense and goalie held our opponent scoreless with a great save on an extremely hard shot on goal in the final minutes to secure the victory!  

10/13/07 STRONG SECOND HALF LEADS TO 2 - 0 WIN OVER UKRAINAIN TEAM!  The first half was scoreless although our team seemed to be "in control" most of the half.   We had two goals in the first half "reversed" by the officials on calls for goalie interference and off sides.   In the second half we scored reasonably quickly and were able to add an insurance goal with about 15 minutes left in the game.   Our defense and goalie did a great job securing the shut-out.

YARDLEY TOURNAMENT

10/6/07 STRONG MATCH-UP RESULTS IN 1-0 WIN ON SATURDAY!  After everyone from both teams finally found the field, we all enjoyed a very well played and exciting soccer game.   We created many scoring chances against this team from Long Island and were finally able to capitalize on one with only a few minutes left in the game.  

10/6/07  EVEN STRONGER MATCH-UP RESULTS IN 0-0 TIE AND KEEPS US FROM THE SEMI-FINALS!  Our second game was against Montclair, NJ and we fought hard but had to settle for a tie with this team.   An early shot on goal was "cleared" at the last second by our opponents that would have been the difference maker.    Unfortunately, this Montclair team beat our earlier opponent by a score of 3-0 to "out-point" us for the top seed from our bracket.

10/7/07 COMPETITIVE GAME RESULTS IN 2-1 LOSS TO MARLBORO, NJ TEAM! In the Consolation Game, our boys gave up an early goal and were down 1-0 at the half.   We quickly gained momentum by scoring within the first minute of the second half and continued to play aggressively the rest of the way.  With only about 4 minutes left, Marlboro took a pass across the goal and were able to convert it for the decisive goal.   Our boys did not quit and had several more scoring opportunities in the final 4 minutes.
