One of the most important concepts Courtney realized about her transition in to her new college team was to come in physically fit to compete with the upper classmen, as well as, the other freshmen joining the team. Interestingly enough the first day of camp was a fitness test for all players. Courtney and the senior captain were the only 2 players to pass all aspects of the test. "Right away this gave me respect from the coaching staff, returning players and from my freshmen peer group. That seem to set the stage for me competing well for playing time and being honored with the Rookie of the Year Award."

Academically Courtney is in the honors college and made the Dean’s List for the first semester, as well as being on target to do the same for the second.

As a member of the WCUSC Spartans’89 Girls team, McKee was coached by current staff members Garry Chandler and Paul Oeschle.  The Spartans’89G were EPYSA U-17 State Cup Finalist and advanced to the USL Super-Y League National Finals in 2007.
