The talented group of young boys had recently formed their new team this past June, but are already showing great promise, winning the U9 Division II of Allentown’s Kids Peace tournament, this being just their second official event playing together. The U8 Predators did not lose a game, going 3-0-1, with both the semi-final and championship games going into overtime and then penalty kicks. In the semis, the 7-year-olds stood unabashed before a crowd numbering in the hundreds and put away 4 of 5 PKs to advance to the finals. In four games, the Predators defense, led by Kyle Burke, Matt Cappelli, Brandon Hontz, Karl Hoegstedt and Jack Griffith, only allowed 4 goals. The offense led by Luke Halliday, Alejandro Perez, Max Zandi, Chris McMahon and Richie Schlentz, and strong midfield play of Aiden McFadden and Jared Matthias, produced twice as many goals as their opponents at 8. Matthias, Schlentz, Zandi, McMahon, Halliday and Hoegstedt also performed very well in goal . Coached by Kevin Halliday, Juan Perez, Bob Schlentz and Pete Zandi, the WCUSC U8 Predators look forward to an exciting fall season.
