The 97 Pride B team started out the 2010-2011 season with a strong showing in the WCUSC Summer Classic on 8/7 & 8/8/10.
The boys competed in the Gold Division along with 7 other teams. The Pride moved into the championship game with wins against Spirit United Kixx and GCVSC Blazers and a draw with Garnet Valley Jaguars. The Pride played very good ball against a strong Division 3 GCVSC Union.
The Pride lost in the finals of the WCUSC Classic by the score of 3-1. The Pride were finalists in the Gold Division.
We look forward to a strong showing in the Spirit United Tournament on 8/21 & 8/22/10. Go Pride!!!

DELCO SL Columbus Weekend Tournament Silver Division Champions
What a great weekend of soccer for the 97 Pride B team and their families! The weather cooperated and the boys were able to play all 4 games this weekend and came away with the U12 Boys Silver Division Championship.
The boys beat GCVSA 2- 0 in the first game with solid defense, good possession and patience on the field.
In the next game the boys defeated Interboro 5-0. This game the boys were able to spread the field, practice maintaining their shape, delivering crisp passes and possession of the ball while showing great sportsmanship to their overmatched opponent.
The Pride finished their first day with 2 wins - (both shutouts)!
Sunday morning we saw a strong Lower Merion team take the field and play a patient game - they scored late in the second half to go up 1 nothing. However - our Pride boys showed their mettle - when in the last 5 minutes of the game it was an all out attack in the offensive end. In the last minute of play Kyle M took a nice pass from Arjun and buried it in the back of the net to force overtime. In the second 5 minute overtime Kyle M returned the favor and dished the pass to Arjun who popped the ball into the back of the net - The Pride won 2-1 in OT and moved onto the championship game against Brandywine @ 11:45 am.
The championship game was played on TSP#4 beginning at 11:45 am and the boys clearly came to play soccer - remembering that this was the club/team who defeated us last December to take the Delco Division 4 championship. Both teams played tentatively in the first half - but the second half saw our boys beginning to make more runs into the offensive zone - but no goals were scored by either team in 60 minutes of soccer. We moved into 2 overtime periods with strong defensive play and a few opportunities but still no goals! It was clear that this championship would be decided by PK.
Defending our goal was Dex - he only allowed to shots into the net. Scoring goals for the Pride during the PK shoot out were - Ben, Jake, Dex and Patrick! The 97 Pride B won the Delco Columbus Day Tournament!
During the 4 games and 3 overtime periods - the Pride only allowed 1 goal into their net. In turn 5 different players scored goals over the weekend. Congratulations to the boys and Coach Mallon!

The 97 Pride B team had a strong showing in the weather shortened 2009 Summer Classic. The Pride took on the GCVSA division 1 team in their 8:00 am match. The boys looked a bit sluggish in the first half - but came roaring back in the second with good possession ball and several shots on goal. Unfortunately they were not able to put the ball in the net. However - they did learn that they could be competitive with a division 1 team.
The second game the Pride played the SUSC Kixx team and won the match decisively with a 2-0 score. Goals were scored by Arjun and James. This game saw players being tried in several different positions and working hard to understand the game from a different perspective.
The 97 Pride team was scheduled to play the 97 Eagles team at 8:00 am Sunday morning. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and all games were cancelled.
The coaches and the boys have a few items to discuss and work on before their next scheduled tournament appearance at the SUSC Kick off Classic in Downingtown August 15 & 16, 2009. Many thanks to all the parents who volunteered their time over this weekend to assist with the tournament.

2009 Quarry Classic - Champions
The 2008-2009 Pride’97B team completed their season this weekend with a strong 3rd place showing in the Quarry Classic hosted by the Wyomissing Area Soccer Club. The Pride team finished the weekend with 3 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie. The first game was a 2-1 victory over Governor Miffllin with Arjun and Patrick getting the goals. Game 2, was a hard fought come from behind tie against Exeter. After allowing 2 quick goals early in the first half , the Pride team played hard in the second half and got goals from Oliver and a late goal by Arjun. On Sunday morning the Pride played Tulpehocken . They played a strong team game and got goals from James and Dex only allowing one goal on a controversial PK. In the bracket cross over came against the 2nd seed team, Wilson, the Pride boys played another strong team game getting a goal late in the first half by Arjun with a great assist by Kyle V. Late in the second half Wilson scored the tying goal. The game then went to two OT’s. In the first OT, the Pride applied heavy pressure with 6 different shots on goal but could not score. The game finally went to PK’s to decide the contest. Scoring goals in the PK for The Pride were Kevin, Brett and Kyle M. with Dex in goal stopping 3 of the 4 shots by Wilson for the victory and 3rd Place Finish.

| The WCUSC Pride’97 Boys team won the rain shortened Robert Urban Memorial Tournament with 2 superbly plaid matches. During the first match the boys fell behind midway thru the first half but they outplayed their opponent. The second half saw the boys play a great all around match and then with less than 5 minutes remaining in the contest Arjun scored to tie the game. The second game began at noon on a rain soaked and muddy field. The boys played very well against a good Nether Prov team. The first half ended scoreless. The second half the boys came out with guns a blazing and scored 4 goals (Patrick 2, Arjun, O’gree). You had to enjoy the rain soaked, mud covered smiling faces at the end of this match. The boys were pumped to come back for their final game of the tournament against Spirit United. They returned to Penncrest High School field #4 ready to get down to the business of winning the division. As they were getting ready to warm up they learned that the rest of the games had been cancelled do to the poor playing conditions. It was unfortunate that they weren’t able to play the final contest but they learned that they had won the tournament on points. Great job to the boys, coaches and fans!!! |

The Pride97B team had a very successful tournament. They had a strong showing in their first match against BYC playing to a 0-0 draw. Their second match was against Spirit United. In that match they started off slowly in the first half but really turned on the pressure in the second half completely dominating the second. The Pride got goals from Kyle V. and Patrick. In the final match they played a strong Lionville team that jumped to an early 1-0 lead and then fell behind 2-0 early in the second half. The Pride was able to get a late goal from Dex on a PK. Considering that all three teams that the Pride played were division 2 teams says a lot about how far we have come with all of the hard work by the coaching staff and the boys we are expecting great things in 2008 for the Pride97 Boys!

The WCUSC Attack U-10B3 soccer club arrived in Nether Providence territory ready to play on Saturday, March 22, 2008.
It was a cold morning with flurries in the air. In game one, the Attack took on hosting team - Nether Providence. The boys played solid defense with Cuinn and Chris protecting their goalie and net. The middle was controlled by Brad and Dex the entire game. Scoring was balanced with three players pushing the ball into the net (Dex, Chris and Austen). Goalie Thomas Mallon played well with a shut out to his credit.
Game two was against BYC. Again this was a game of strong defensive team work. The boys had many scoring opportunities and kept the ball in the BYC end most of the game. The game winning goal was blasted into the net by Dex. This was the second shut out for the team.
Game three began at 1 pm and the boys knew if the played solid as a team they had a chance to win. Haverford quickly went up 1-0 with a goal in the first 3 minutes of the game. But the Attack boys settled in and began to control the game. In the second half, Kyle N. placed a beautiful pass on the far post side and Dex tapped the ball in the goal to tie the game. The game ended in a tie 1-1.

The Attack took 1st place in their division.
