Parents, please remember the golden rules of sideline behavior.
- Exhibit good sportsmanship at all times. We are role models for our children.
- Do not coach the players, leave that to the coaching staff. When parents give direction, it can actually confuse the players.
- Ensure that your daughter comes to practices and games on time. This allows for proper warm-ups, and pre-game strategy.
- Keep it POSITIVE. Make as much noise as you want, but it must be positive and encouraging, never degrading or threatening.
- Never address, speak to, or challenge the referees. The ref calls the game from his/her vantage point and will not call every hand ball or offsides that you see.
- If you are upset following a game, please wait 24 hours before addressing the issue with the coach or other party involved. This provides a cooling off period, which often diminishes the issue on its own.
- Finally, support your child and her teammates and coaches. Remember, youth soccer is about the children, their development in soccer and the love of the game.
